Robert George Miller was born in Marshall, Texas on July 8, 1955. Bob’s parents raised him in a good Christian home, but the Christian upbringing didn’t stick. He was baptized in the First Methodist Church on – quite appropriately – April Fools’ Day, 1956.
Bob graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas with a Bachelor of Science in 1977 and a Master of Science in 1978. He has made little practical use of his biology degrees, but believes scientific education promotes critical thinking skills.
Bob served as an officer in the United States Army Quartermaster Corps from 1979 to 1984. He considers five years of peace to be one of the luckiest breaks of his life, having proudly served without hearing a shot fired in anger. He was stationed in Fort Lee (Virginia), Mannheim (Germany) and Sinop (Turkey). As Public Affairs Officer in Sinop, Bob published The Diogenes Review, the official magazine of Diogenes Station, Turkey. He also contributed to the satirical Diogenes Rear View, an endeavor that turned out to be short-lived due to the particular difficulties of publishing an underground newspaper anonymously on a military intelligence outpost.
Bob graduated from the University of Houston College of Law with a Juris Doctor degree in 1988. He is Board-Certified in Consumer Bankruptcy by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and spends most of his time representing bankruptcy clients. Robert has few pastimes other than reading, writing and various forms of exercise. He enjoys traveling and has visited twenty-seven countries and thirty-one states.
